The ports have been modified on the top end for increased hp, simple and modest exhaust upgrade, heavy-duty after-market forks, heavy-duty shocks, 15mm carb, almost new tires, extra wide seat, and more.
The engine is a Maxi-Luxe high torque E50 single speed with less than 300 miles on a full rebuild. He said it never gave him any problems and he will definitely miss it! The son is now off to college and no longer has a need for the moped since receiving a new motorcycle recently so it’s back in our inventory again. The moped was built for reliability but it also needed to be able to merge and keep up to traffic on a very busy city street where the family lived. This moped was custom-built for a customer’s son who needed transportation to and from school everyday last summer. It’s a wonderful running and very reliable modified black 1978 Puch Newport. This moped is listed as *Used* but it did go through a complete reconditioning 9 months ago. We also have copies of the service and parts manuals available to download free in our manual section. The bike was repainted by the previous owner and he did a great job but it is not a professional restoration. It currently runs perfect so you could ride it just as it is or do a full-out restoration on it at minimal cost because it is 100% complete. This 60cc classic Puch with it’s traditional 3 speed transmission and clutch, fan cooled engine and light-weight chassis will propel you down the road at speeds up to 55 mph. Everything on it is original right down to the leather tank straps and Claxon manual horn.
I guess that means that you will need a motorcycle license to operate this beautiful moped, huh? It is technically and legally a motorcycle but Sears marketed it as a moped so that is what we are going to refer to it as. and re-branded under their Allstate line of products as a Allstate Sport Moped.
This highly collectible machine was manufactured by Puch for Sears Roebuck and Co. 1964 Allstate Sport 60 3 speed moped…this is as cool as it gets! Hopefully, it will go to a great home because the previous owner babied it and we promised him that we would take care of it.
